There’s some buzz that Video Resumes are the next "cool" thing for job searching. It’s not so much whether to make a video resume, but how to make a professional video resume to enhance your job application.

 

What’s a Video Resume? It’s a short video created to showcase your specific job skills and qualifications. You can create a Video Resumes yourself, or thru various online Video Resume resources. They seem to be gaining popularity, particularly with younger job seekers ... particularly among Generation Y.

 

The purpose of the Video Resume is to add a personal presentation to future employers. Remember, it’s essential that employers get the best and most accurate idea about your unique talents, skills and goals as early as possible in the selection process.

 

It’s reported that nearly 90 percent of employers say they would watch a Video Resume if it were submitted to them. The primary reason employers say they would value a Video Resume is, it allows them to assess a job candidate’s professional presentation and demeanor.

 

Keep in mind, though, how well you prepare your video may imply to employers how well you will do your job.

If You’re Between Ages 17 – 24, Do Some ‘Earning and Learning’ This Summer.

If you’re between 17 and 24 years old, what better way to spend the summer than earning some cash ... while you learn?  Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance can help you gain real knowledge and experiences for the future by participating in hands-on activities, field exercises and attending presentations by experts to get a real-time understanding of business environments and practices.

 

This program is open to young adults 17-19 years of age (click here) from June 15 through August 13, 2009.  There are two sessions running four weeks each, four hours per day.  So there will be plenty of time left in the summer for play too. Those aged 20 – 24 can also participate (click here), gain knowledge and real work experiences through on-the-job training.

 

It’s easy and will take only minutes.  Our staff will contact applicants to determine if they are a suitable candidate for the program.

 

Program Highlights:

17-19 year olds   

Session one: June 15- July 9, 2009

Session two: July 20 – August 13, 2009

 

-Team learning and group work; field assignments; business and industry leaders providing hands on experiences.

 

-Four hours per day, Monday through Thursday and a field assignment during the course.

 

-Earn for performing…just like on the job!  If you’re a top performer, you can earn up to $688 during the course of the program.

 

20-24 year olds

-Experience real on-the-job training.

 

-Earn up to $3,000.

 

-Work sites throughout Hillsborough County.

 

-Gain a skill or build experience portfolio to help advance your career goals.
