Gas prices, the unemployment rate and our anxiety are on the rise. You may wonder, will the economy bounce back?
According to recent studies and economy experts, developing a green economy is one of the potential solutions to stimulate job growth. In fact, the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, reported that Florida could benefit from green job development. "By making buildings energy efficient, expanding mass transit and investing in biofuels, solar and wind power, a total of 120,000+ jobs could be created in Florida."
"Going green" isn't just a fad any more. It's a whole new way of doing business, from employers restructuring their hiring practices to recalculating the bottom line.
So how is the Tampa Bay area going "green"? Mayor Pam Iorio created a "green committee" for the city of Tampa and the city of St. Petersburg is known as the first "green city" in Florida.
